Fully online, self-paced via Google Classroom. Enrol, get your classroom link by email or the Student Portal, then work through video modules, reflections, and quizzes to progress.

UP Certificate timing: Current cycle closes October 2026; certificates issued by March 2027.

  • John Templeton Foundation Scholarship (open to everyone else) — covers R1,000, plus a R100 registration fee

Bursary condition: Course must be completed within 6 weeks of acceptance, or your place is forfeited.

Payment: Purchase online; EFT access activates once payment clears.

Refunds: No refunds — a 12-month credit note is issued instead, usable on any short course or transferable to someone else.

The most valuable thing I learned during this course was how deeply important it is to view children, especially those who are sick, vulnerable, or living with disabilities through a holistic and rights-based lens. I gained a much deeper understanding of how care is not just about treating the illness, but about meeting the emotional, psychological, social, and even spiritual needs of each child.
What stood out to me most was the shift away from seeing disability purely as a medical issue, and instead understanding the role that societal attitudes and barriers play in a child’s experience. I also found it powerful to learn about children’s rights in healthcare like the right to be heard, involved in decision-making, and treated with dignity. It reminded me that when we see children as whole human beings, not just patients, we create the space for them to truly flourish.
