Soap Kitchen
The De La Porte Oasis is situated at the Anti-Retroviral clinic at the Tshwane District Hospital. HospiVision has developed a model to create a supportive and nurturing environment for people who are living with HIV/AIDS, are on ART (Anti-Retro-Viral Therapy) and therefore must visit the clinic on a monthly basis.
Skills Development
The Oasis has a variety of skills development programmes to empower people living with illness, and disability. These include sewing, needlework, baking, computer literacy, and establishing and maintaining a food garden.
Updates
There’s something powerful about learning a skill that not only feeds the body but also nourishes the soul.
Baking
![]() |
Last week, our students at the De la Porte Oasis Skills Development Centre rolled up their sleeves and got hands-on in the kitchen during their baking class at Tshwane District Hospital. The aroma of fresh ingredients, the laughter shared around the table, and the pride in their finished products all came together to create more than just sweet treats — they created confidence, teamwork, and hope. These classes are part of Hospivision’s commitment to empowering individuals through practical skills development, offering participants the chance to grow their potential and prepare for brighter futures. For many of our students, learning to bake is more than just learning a recipe — it’s learning self-worth, discipline, and the joy of sharing something they’ve created with others. To every student who showed up with curiosity and courage: we’re proud of you. Your journey matters — and we’re honoured to walk it with you. |
Sewing

Students from the sewing class at the HospiVision Skills Development Centre have created beautiful scatter pillows and shopping bags as part of their skills training. These handmade items were donated to the Hidden Treasure charity shop in Lyttelton, supporting a cycle of giving and empowerment. This initiative takes place at our De La Porte Skills Development Centre, located at Tshwane District Hospital, where learning new skills opens doors to purpose and community impact. |
