A Place of Tranquility and Healing
The prayer garden is more than just a beautifully landscaped space. For patients facing the challenges of illness and families navigating the emotional toll of caregiving, this garden offers a moment of peace. It’s a place to pause, breathe, and connect—whether spiritually, emotionally, or simply with nature.
The serene environment, enhanced by lush greenery, vibrant flowers, and thoughtful design elements, provides a much-needed escape from the clinical settings of the hospital. For families, it can serve as a quiet retreat for reflection and support. For patients, it offers a moment of reprieve, fostering mental and emotional well-being—a vital component of holistic healing.
Thanks to a few generous donors, we were able to develop a prayer garden next to the Chapel at Steve Biko Academic Hospital. The HospiVision staff and volunteers dedicated their 67 minutes on Mandela Day 2024 tilling the soil and preparing it for planting.
This quiet space now provides patients and staff with a place to sit, reflect, and find peace amidst the challenges they face.
