At Kalafong Hospital, HospiVision walks alongside patients, families, and staff during some of life's most difficult moments. Our coordinator, Frans Ramabudi, works hand in hand with hospital management — nurses, security personnel, and ward administrators — to bring spiritual care and emotional support into the daily rhythm of the hospital.

Our care at Kalafong takes shape through two ongoing ministries:

• Morning prayer and devotion with staff — beginning the day by encouraging the nurses, administrators, and personnel who carry the weight of hospital work, and offering counselling to any staff member who asks for support.
• Ward visits — moving through the wards to pray with patients, counsel those who have lost hope, and provide clothing and toiletries to those in need where possible.

Much of our deepest work happens in wards 4 and 23, where our volunteers stand alongside mothers facing premature births and the loss of their babies. In these tender moments, our team offers support and the comfort of presence — and we give thanks for the babies who grow stronger, and for the mothers who leave knowing they were not alone.

HospiVision's presence at Kalafong reaches hundreds of people every month. In March 2025 alone, our team recorded over 900 individual contacts — including initial patient visits, follow-ups, family support, staff care, spiritual care and pastoral counselling sessions — a measure of the steady, faithful presence we maintain across the wards.

Kalafong Provincial Tertiary Hospital is a public hospital in Atteridgeville, on the western outskirts of Pretoria, serving thousands of patients and families from the surrounding communities. HospiVision is privileged to bring spiritual care into this busy hospital, partnering with its staff to support the whole person — body, mind, and spirit.
